Then whenever I try opening the world file, 'unable to load file'. So I try opening my backups. 'unable to load file'. I get that for backups even before the point where I edited the world in game. I've had no choice but to create my worlds with absolutely no lots until the very end, and I'm making a huge world. Over 400 (empty) lots at this point.

You dont need steps 2 and 3 either. Simply1 update the game with no CAW installed
2 install old worldtool.exe (156 mb)
3 update worldtool.exe with patch
4 Get ****** off when it crashed again
5 go to bed
6 wake up and uninstall CAW
7 download new worldtool.exe from sticky thread(157 MB)
8 open it up and almost **** my self when it works
9 post here how i made it work on my end.
steps 4 5 8 and 9 can be skipped. steps 1 2 3 7 8 should be followed. step 9 can be modified with posting if it worked for you.- Uninstall old CAW (If you had it)
- Check the program files CAW folder for any files left behind and delete them (A file was left behind once when i had installed WA and prevented it from working properly)
- Update game to latest patch
- Download new CAW
- edited July 2010said it was exactly what i had done to make it work. wasn't sure if it was required. wasn't gonna mess with it to check and see because it was working =P
- edited July 2010I had the same problem and fixed mine. I am running Vista Home x64 SP1. The problem was that I took the default install location the first time. I uninstalled CAW, then reinstalled. I made sure to select custom installation this time. The default location for my OS was in Program Files (x86). When I selected custom, I specified to install into my actual games data area. For me this was: C:UsersusernameDocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 3. Figured this out by looking at the config file and what folders it was trying to reference. I tried to just change the config without all the uninstall/reinstall but that didn't do it. Hope this helps someone. :-)

- edited February 2014I know this isn't the right forum but their are no other forums on CAW errors. So.... I made a world and then I saved and turned of my laptop, I came back the next day and when I clicked 'Open World' I picked the world I wanted. But then an error message showed up, it just says: Unable to load file. C:/users/kaya/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 Create a World Tool/UserToolData/Worlds/World.world: Cannot load a Packed File {0} In the Sims Create a World Tool - Beta. It's killing me to have to wait ! and it nags me that I used so much time on it :x Please send back asap if possible.
